For immediate access to routine or crisis services, please call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL) at 1-800-715-4225. GCAL is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year to help you or someone you care for in a crisis. GCAL professionals will:

  • Provide telephonic crisis intervention services
  • Dispatch mobile crisis teams
  • Assist individuals in finding an open crisis or detox bed across the State
  • Link individuals with urgent appointment services

In addition, GCAL will help you to access a State Funded provider in your area in a non-emergency as well.

The statewide crisis line is a 24/7/365 call system to help anyone experiencing a mental health crisis. All calls are routed to a trained crisis specialist within your area. The service is free.

Georgia Domestic Violence Hotline1-800-334-2836
The Georgia domestic violence hotline is an extensive telephone routing system to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) certified shelters. Calls to the hotline are automatically connected to the caller’s nearest certified shelter based on the caller’s telephone number exchange. Calls may be made 24 hours a day from anywhere in the state as well as from outside of Georgia from any phone line. Programs accepting calls have access to language interpreter services.

Callers are connected immediately to crisis intervention specialists who provide connection to resources, safety plan with victims, conduct lethality assessments with local police, and assist in transitioning callers to the next level of help. The Statewide Domestic Violence Helpline is a referral and counseling helpline for victims of domestic violence. Counselors are available 24/7 to offer referrals and supportive listening, and help with safety planning.

Located in Fort Oglethorpe, the purpose of the Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy Center shall be to facilitate healing for victims of sexual assault and their families through on-going crisis intervention services; to promote community awareness of the Center’s services; to educate our students and community about the nature of sexual assault – in terms of prevention as well as the need for support to its survivors; and to foster strong partnerships with all agencies involved in dealing with sexual assault.

Northwest Georgia Community Resources

United Way 211 is an information and referral service. Information and referral specialists have comprehensive knowledge in areas such as basic needs, physical and mental health, domestic violence services, child care, counseling and mentoring.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) National Help Center, founded in 1996, is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that provides vital peer-support, community connections and resource information to people with questions regarding sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Utilizing a diverse group of LGBT volunteers, we operate three national hotlines, the LGBT National Hotline, the LGBT National Youth Talkline and the LGBT National Senior Hotline as well as private, volunteer one-to-one online chat, that helps both youth and adults with coming-out issues, safer-sex information, school bullying, family concerns, relationship problems and a lot more.
