Dalton State Names Interim Athletic Director

Jon Jaudon, a senior professional and executive with 30 years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics including 16 years as associate athletics director for administration at Virginia Tech, has been named interim athletic director for Dalton State effective July 1.

“I am excited to welcome Jon to Dalton State,” said President Dr. Margaret Venable. “His skills and experience are a good fit for our athletic program during this transition period, and I look forward to seeing what he can do for us moving forward.”

Jaudon, 56, has experience in university relations, department leadership, strategic planning, financial affairs, student-athlete life, compliance and risk management, leadership development, athletic program administration, academic services, Title IX and gender equity, facility planning and construction, business operations, human resources, and athletic development. At various times in his tenure at Virginia Tech, he oversaw baseball, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, wrestling and men’s and women’s teams in soccer and swimming and diving.

A native of Bradenton, Fla., Jaudon previously worked at the University of Texas where he served as assistant athletics director for academic services and academic counselor for the football and men’s basketball teams. He has also served as an academic counselor at the University of Florida and as assistant baseball coach at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fla. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from the University of Florida in 1983, and a Master of Arts in education with emphasis in sports administration in 1985, also from the University of Florida.

“I want to thank Dr. Venable for the opportunity to serve Dalton State,” said Jaudon. “I am looking forward to meeting everyone associated with the College including those in the community who have faithfully supported bringing athletics back to campus. What an awesome re-birth of athletics you have experienced.”

Dalton State sponsors a dozen intercollegiate athletic teams including men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s teams in soccer (women’s team debuts fall 2016), cross country, golf, tennis, and cheer. The College is an NAIA school and a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference.
