Department of History
Greetings! It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Dalton State College Department of History website.
The Department of History offers a variety of enriching and fascinating courses in world history, US history, geography, and anthropology. Our courses are taught by highly-qualified scholars who are dedicated to their disciplines and to their students, resulting in exceptional learning experiences.
In addition to supporting the college’s General Education Core Curriculum, the Department of History offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, and students pursuing the BA in History may also choose to add an optional Public History or Secondary Education concentration. The Department also supports minors in History, Geography, and African American Studies.
A degree in History from Dalton State provides students with the research, writing, and critical thinking skills in demand in today’s workforce. Our history majors have gone on to work in government, business, education, and so much more, while other alumni have continued their education in graduate programs and at law schools.
Please take some time to explore our site, and do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
Dr. Tammy K. Byron, Chair
