School of Education Honors Black Authors

Posted on

Category: Uncategorized

Dalton State’s School of Education is observing Black History Month this week while helping provide teacher candidates resources for their future classrooms.

School of Education students can stop by the third floor of Brown Hall to make learning materials to support three books that celebrate Black History Month. The books include “If You Plant a Seed” by Kadir Nelson, “Radiant Child: The Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat” by Javaka Steptoe and “The Other Side” by Jacqueline Woodson.

Materials include activities, games and discussion questions to help teach students more about the books and authors.

Each book is available on YouTube so having a hard copy is not necessary. The materials will be available in Brown until end of the day Thursday.
