As Election Day draws near, the elephant in the room in the form of our presidential candidates now demands our attention.
To further educate people of all ages about the candidates and the parties they represent, supporters of different parties came together for a discussion about their thoughts regarding the state of the country and their views from both Republican and Democratic standpoints.
Mediated and guided by Dr. Matt Hipps and Dr. Seth Weitz, the discussion included topics regarding the national debt, taxes, and how the parties evolved over the years.
"I have always been very interested in politics, and I really enjoyed this event hosted by Dalton State. As an international student, this was a great opportunity for me to get a better understanding of the different views of different parties in a lot of areas," said Fredrik Mazur, a Rotary scholar student from Sweden. "To hear what the representatives from the different parties had to say about questions concerning both national and local government was very interesting and shed light on the issues from both sides."
