Mathematics, BS – Actuarial Science Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an Actuarial Science Concentration gives you the opportunity to pursue a career as an actuary and take classes that focus on the skills and knowledge needed to be successful on the professional exams. Due to the nature of the job, pursuing a career in actuarial science requires specialized mathematical skills and knowledge, analytical problem-solving skills, business/finance skills and knowledge, and professional communication skills. The Actuarial Science concentration offers you courses from across our curricula that will prepare you for the exams and the workforce. In this track you can enjoy the same hands-on experiences as the general Mathematics students, such as undergraduate research collaborations, faculty-lead symposiums in Mathematics, and participation in the various math related clubs and events like Math and Snacks, which will help guide you into your career with confidence.

These experiences in the Mathematics Actuarial Science track will give you a broad background in mathematics and business to prepare you for a career in actuary as well as in private sector positions and graduate programs in mathematics.
