Join AAMI in participating in a community led memorial service mourning the 1936 lynching of A.L. McCamy in Downtown Dalton. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. Meet in the Emory Center Parking Lot (110 W Emery Street) adjacent to the lynching site, hear from speakers about the incident. Reassemble at the Senior Center to participate in a brief march on Oak Hill Cemetery. Dedication of a new marker for McCamy at his resting place. The event will proceed rain or shine. Bring a lawn chair if you need to sit. Feel free to bring a flower to place on McCamy’s Tombstone.
