Join us on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:00 PM in Goodroe Auditorium (Gignilliat Hall) for a TEDx-style event featuring heartfelt stories from Dalton State students and alumni. Together, they will share how they found connection, belonging, and the courage to thrive during their time at Dalton State. You’ll hear from:Alumni Presenters:
  • Ashley Fann – First-generation graduate turned student success advisor.
  • Diego Alvarado Ruiz – A Dalton State journey shaped by immigration and resilience.
  • Nancy Avila de Welles – Non-traditional, Second language learner, first-generation graduate.
Student Presenters:
  • Mackenzie Manley – A passionate student leader navigating the tension between connection, loss, and life’s uncertainties.
  • Laura Richmond – Single mother, survivor, and double major in biology and chemistry.
  • Shane Robinson – Dedicated student, father of four, and experienced public speaker.
The event also features a campus art exhibit and light refreshments. Art Exhibits will be interactive and you can engage with the artist to ask questions about their work related to connection, belonging, and resilency. This is a unique opportunity to celebrate the incredible stories that make Dalton State a place of transformation and belonging. All faculty, staff, students, and community members are welcome! We hope to see you there.Sent on behalf of the Culture of Teaching and Learning Committee.
