Why did you choose Dalton State? I chose Dalton State because I liked how close it is to home and how affordable it is. The small classes that Dalton offers are also very appealing.
What does it mean to you to be part of the Roadrunner Nation? Being part of the Roadrunner Nation to me means being a part of a group of people who are committed to do something good in this world. People who are working towards personal and professional goals have the potential to make great change.
What do you plan to do after graduation? I plan to take a year off from school and work in a lab setting with my biology degree. I want to use all the skills and knowledge I have acquired throughout my time at Dalton State. I also plan to study for the MCAT and apply to medical school.
Who is/was your favorite professor and why? This is hard to answer because there are many great professors at Dalton State. One of my favorites is Susan Burran; her love of biology is evident when she teaches. I hope to have that same amount of passion in my career.
What activities are you involved in on campus? I am a member of Beta Chi Nu.
What are some of your biggest achievements or accomplishments at Dalton State? I have been on the dean’s list since my first semester of college. It’s is a nice reminder that all the effort and work I put into school are worth it.
What are some of your favorite activities in and around Dalton? I love just driving around Dalton and seeing the beautiful mountains and scenery, especially on clear blue-skied days.
What is the last book you read? “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child”
If you had a theme song, what would it be? “Let It Be” -The Beatles
Favorite line from a movie? “Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” –Dead Poets Society
What is your guilty pleasure? Chocolate, so much chocolate.
What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? I would love to learn to play the violin. It’s a beautiful and timeless instrument.
What cheers you up? Taking my dogs on walks and jogging to clear my head and de-stress.
What is your favorite book? “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak. It is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read.
What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory is my parents taking my siblings and me to the beach and park when we lived in LA.
If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet? Mary Winston-Jackson, one of the women whose life the movie Hidden Figures is based on.
Where is your favorite place to eat? IHOP, I love their Belgian waffles and French toast.
As a Roadrunner, what does it mean to Run Boldly? “Running Boldly” means having the motivation to find what is it you are passionate about and pursuing it. I thought I knew what I wanted to do when I started college, but I ended up changing my mind. It was not easy to realize I wanted a different career than the one I had initially planned. I am glad I had the motivation to not settle because now I am very confident and excited for the future.
