The state of Georgia is a world leader in financial technology (FinTech) with approximately 70 percent of global financial transactions handled by corporations based in Georgia. The University System of Georgia (USG) has recognized the FinTech business sector as a high-demand career area served by the High Demand Career Initiative. To provide Dalton State Students access to FinTech expertise, the Wright School of Business has collaborated with the USG Georgia FinTech Academy and developed a FinTech minor that combines eCampus online FinTech courses with those taught at Dalton State.
Dalton State College is now offering courses preparing you for an exciting career in financial technology- known as FinTech. FinTech is the technology that makes electronic banking possible including everything from gift cards, debit cards, credit cards, ATMs, and the phone apps you use to electronically transfer money to your friends or pay bills. FinTech allows you to invest, insure, and bank from your mobile device without ever having to set foot in a building. Courses in financial technology prepare you for a high demand career in areas such as information technology, cybersecurity, data science, and business.

The following courses have been developed by Georgia State University as part of the Georgia FinTech Academy through collaboration with industry experts in the Financial Technology industry. Courses are available both online and in a hybrid format through USG eMajor($199/credit).

Dalton State College offers a FinTech minor that combines three FTA courses with others taught on campus. You may also take the FTA courses without enrolling in the minor. If you’d like to register for one or more FTA courses, email your advisor to obtain permission. You may need to study background finance and information system concepts on your own to be prepared for some FTA courses.
