Why did you choose Dalton State? Financially it was the best option for me, since it is close to home. I’m glad I made the decision to stay. The class sizes make building relationships with professors and peers so much easier!
What does it mean to you to be part of the Roadrunner Nation? When I think about being part of the Roadrunner Nation, I think about growth. This is a small town and it’s crazy to look back and see how far Dalton State has come. I’m proud to say this is my home!
What do you plan to do after graduation? After graduation I want to work for one of our local elementary schools and eventually become a high school history teacher. Since I’ll be graduating in the middle of the school year, I just want to use that time to travel. Alaska is at the top of my list.
Who is/was your favorite professor and why? This is a tough one. During my time at Dalton State I have had some amazing professors so it’s hard to narrow it down to just one. I will say I love all the professors within the education program. They make it feel like we are one BIG family. Shout out to Teak, the best service dog out there.
What are some of your biggest achievements or accomplishments at Dalton State? I was blessed to work with the Newcomers Academy at Morris Innovative High School. This is a program for students who have recently emigrated from Central America alone, and came to North Georgia with a sponsor. The students are taught how to speak English and how to become goods citizens. It was such a humbling and great experience to be able to work with such kind-hearted students. This opportunity reassured me that teaching is my calling.
Where is your favorite study spot? I love studying outside. There’s something about the trees that makes me feel so relaxed.
Where is your favorite hangout? I don’t really have a “favorite” hangout spot. As long as I have positive people around me, anywhere is fine.
What is the last book you read? “Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon” by Patty Lovell. What do you expect? I’m a first-grade student teacher.
Favorite comfort food? TACOS AND PIZZA, without a doubt! PSA: PINEAPPLES DON’T BELONG ON PIZZA.
Favorite line from a movie? “Quick, what’s the number for 911?” -Buckwheat, The Little Rascals (1994). It’s a classic.
What do you feel most proud of? My roots - I love my culture!
If you won the lottery, what would you do? If were talking big bucks it sounds cliché, but I would attempt to end world hunger. Ending world hunger is possible.
What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? I would love to learn how to speak Russian. There’s something about the language that is so scary yet empowering. So, if anybody knows and would like to teach me please don’t hesitate to email me egomez1@daltonstate.edu.
Who is your hero? My heroes without a doubt are my parents. Without them I would be nothing, they are my biggest motivators and supporters.
What is your favorite app? Without a doubt Twitter. I still don’t understand how its free.
Where is your favorite place to eat? Anywhere I can get my hands on a homecooked meal. Whoever is reading this don’t hesitate to invite me to the next carne asada.
What cheers you up? My baby sister KayLee (Kegs), she’s a walking meme.
